Used electric bikes, checked and graded
Second-hand e-bikes for commuting, trekking and city riding — inspected against 24 checks, with measured battery capacity in the report.
What a used e-bike has to prove
A used e-bike is a battery, a motor and a frame sold as one thing. The battery is the expensive part and the one sellers describe loosely, so we measure it; the motor and drivetrain decide whether the ride feels right, so we test them under load; and the frame decides whether it is safe, so we inspect welds, alignment and every mounting point.
What we look at on this type
- 01Battery capacity and cyclesMeasured in Wh against rated capacity, with cycle count from the BMS.
- 02Motor and assist behaviourCut-off at the legal limit, sensor response, walk assist, error codes.
- 03DrivetrainChain stretch, cassette or belt wear, derailleur alignment, shifting under load.
- 04Brakes and wheelsPad and disc thickness, hydraulic feel, wheel true, spoke tension.
- 05Frame and forkWeld inspection, alignment, headset play, rack and mudguard mounts.
- 06What comes with itKeys, charger, battery key and the documents we hold.

A, B, C — and what each one means
Grade is cosmetic. The number that matters is the measured battery capacity, and it is printed on every report.

Questions about e-bikes
What counts as a legal e-bike in the EU and UK?
Generally a pedal-assist bike limited to 25 km/h and 250 W continuous, with assistance cutting out above that speed. Faster or throttle-led machines fall into other categories with licensing and insurance consequences. If a vehicle is not in the pedal-assist class we say so in the report and in the listing.
Can the battery be replaced later?
Yes, on most models — but the pack format and connector matter. The report names the pack and its capacity so a replacement can be matched. Where a pack is proprietary and no longer produced, we say that before you buy.
Do you sell bikes without a battery?
Only where stated. A bike sold without a pack is priced accordingly and the listing says so; the 24-point check still covers the motor, controller and wiring.
